Food for thought

Dear students,
In order to get some extra practice with the vocabulary and your listening skills, you can try to do the following activities:
  • White in the inside, green in the outside... If you can't remember the name for something, you can always try describing it.
  • Your daily diet. Listen to Todd talking about the food he likes eating. What do you think about his eating habits, are they healthy enough?
  • Watch this video by a famous British chef and his commitment to make healthy food popular in Britain. Why don't you have a go at cooking this simple omelette?
  •
    Also, as an ideal 'topping' for the unit, why don't you tell us about your favourite dishes and how you like them served? Leave your comments!

Dear Alejandro, this is my recipe for your blog’s cooking section:

SPAGHETTI CARBONARA

Ingredients:

* 500gr spaghetti
* 250gr bacon
* 33cl cream
* 15cl white wine
* a spoonful olive oil
* herbs (laurel, sweet basil, wild marjoram…)

Instructions:

1. First of all, fill a big pan with water and heat it. Put laurel and salt.

2. When the water is boiling, add the pasta into the pan until it’s “al dente” and then remove all the hot water and wash it with cool water for a few seconds.

3. While the pasta is boiling, pour a little olive oil into another pan and fry the bacon a bit.

4. After that mix the spaghetti with the bacon, pour the wine over and stir it all.

5. Finally, pour the cream and stir it again for a few minutes. Decorate with a few herbs on top and cool wine to drink (e.g. Lambrusco).

As you can see, it's very easy, and I can guarantee it's very tasty too.
